Day 1. Slavonia county – Town Osijek
Arrival in Osijek, your starting tour point. Meeting with your english speaking Tour escort and transfer to your hotel. Our guide will revive the vivid history of this area through visit to the monumental buildings of the citadel, stories about battles, fairs, unfortunate romances… Wines in Slavonia and Baranja are beeing cultivated for centuries. Visiting to Regional Winery in Old town Tvrđa, where are presented best wines from all over the Slavonia and Baranja region, from smallest to large producers. Dinner at the local restaurant on Osijek with live traditional music. Overnight.
Day 2. Srijem county – Erdut, Vukovar, Ilok
Breakfast at your hotel. Drive to Erdut, a small village on the eastern part of Croatia. It is known for its famous wines Erdut winery and the largest barrel that is made from 150 year old oak capacity of 75 000 lit. It is listed in the Guinness Book of Records. The beauty and attractiveness of the wine-growing surroundings and hilly landscape above the Danube leaves you breathless. Organised winery tour – old and new cellar, the biggest barrels with possibility to purchase wine. Continue to visit Vukovar. The city tour includes: Eltz family castle, baroque center, Franciscan Monastery, the water tower, Memorial Cemetery “Ovčara”. Lunch in a national restaurant Danube dove in Vukovar. Continue to visit Ilok – the easternmost point of Croatia. The old royal castle is located on the western slopes of Fruska above, on the right bank of the Danube river (Srijem area). Upon arrival a city tour includes – Odescalchi family castle, Museum of Ilok, Church of St. Ivana Capistrano and Principovac. It is one of the best wine-growing positions in Croatia with vineyards and plantation mansion complex with outbuildings. Principovac offers stunning views of Ilok, Srijem and Backa. We continue with Ilok visit. Here you will find an old cellar and have a wine tasting in unique atmosphere, rich in architectural and technological features. These days cellar produces premium quality wines. It has been recognized by Croatian and international wine experts. Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling and Gewurztraminer are just a few most famous grapes that give culmination and variety in the production as well confirm qualitybased on exceptional pedo-climatic conditions, traditions, people and technology. Day 3. Serbia – Subotica, Palić, Kelebija
Breakfast at hotel. Full day trip to Serbia. Morning trip to the town Subotica – a town of particular architecture. Locals call it the “Pannon Barcelona”, because it’s secession details remind of A.Gaudi’s architectural solutions in Barcelona. Short city tour: City Hall, museums, theatre, libraries, Reich palace decorated with Zsolnay ceramics, fountains… We go to the winery DiBonis where natural wealth is associated with modern technology. Although Palicki wine region is famous for its white grape varieties, vinery DiBonis planted and red varieties. Wine tasting in the rustic cellar. Going to the lake Palic favorite resort. Free time for lunch. Vineyard of Palić has 2000 years tradition od winemaking. This tradition can be seen at Zvonko Bogdan’s Winery. The winery was built in the Art Nouveau style and its interior hides the latest French technology and is decorated along the French castles style. Noblest wines provide for centuries a high quality white wines (Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay) and some red varieties (Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Franconian). Harmonic taste and intense aroma with soft tannins are characteristic in Serbia. Visit vineyards, wineries and cellar with wine tasting. Departure to the village Kelebija. Visit the largest Lipizzaner stud farm in Serbia: the museum with working and parade equipment, collection of more than 20 coaches, “karuca”, “ceza”and sleigh. Not far from Kelebija is a small winery Čuvardić – an old family winery with cellar dating from 1928. Here you will taste highly rewarded wines. Late return to Osijek. Overnight.
Day 4. Hungary – Villany
Breakfast. Full day trip to Hungary. Morning drive to Villany – a village of vineyards, wines and grapes. This wine region offers a range of excellent quality wine, recognized both by experts and consumers. Here you will discover the famous wine cellars of this region. Tour begins at the newly built Gere Attila Vinery, at the border of Villány next to the beautiful vineyard. A tour includes a wine tasting. Continue to Bock family winery. Since 1850. love for wine and skills in winemaking is carried from fathers to sons for nine generations. A tour includes wine tasting. You’ll learn various phases of winemaking. A 100 metre long cellar leads to circular cellar with its remarkable acoustics. Lunch in restaurant of winery Bock. Leisure in the Villany. Make your own walking tour through this charming village, visit some others little wineries where You can also taste and buy wines. Return back to Osijek late in the evening. Overnight.
Day 5. Đakovo
Breakfast at your hotel and check-out. Morning departure to Đakovo. When you are approaching Đakovo from either side you will see the brightness of the bricks of two towers and cupolas of the most beautiful cathedral in the area (from Venice to Istanbul) – St.Peter’s cathedral. It is town’s most famous landmark and the most important sacral object, not only in Đakovo but also tin the whole region of Slavonia. The Cathedral was built between 1866.-1882. under Josip Juraj Strossmayer, then the Catholic bishop of Đakovo and Srijem. Follows visit the Lipizzaner stud farm, one of the oldest of its kind in Europe in the centre of Đakovo. Lunch in traditional restaurant. Transfer to Osijek airport.
